Cardiomyopathy in Children
Disease of the heart muscle causing dilatation and/or impaired contraction. There are three types: hypertrophic, dilated and restrictive cardiomyopathy.

Angiogram
Treatment
For Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
Non Pharmacological treatment
-
Avoid strenuous exercises

Pharmacological treatment
​
-
Give Propranolol PO 2 mg/kg 6 hourly OR
-
Atenolol PO 1mg/kg once per day.
​
Dilated and Restrictive cardiomyopathy
Non Pharmacological treatment
-
Bed rest.
​
Pharmacological treatment
-
Give Digoxin AND
-
Frusemide and Spironolactone dose as above
