Gatro esophageal reflux Disease(GERD) in Children
GERD is a disorder resulting from gastric acid and other gastric contents into the oesophagus due to incompetent barriers at the gastro oesophageal junction leading to inflammation of the oesophagus.
Diagnostic Criteria

Heartburn and regurgitation
-
With endoscopic evidence of mucosal inflammation
Investigations

Oesophageal Gastroduodenoscopy (OGD)
-
Contrast Barium swallow
-
The 24-hours oesophageal pH
Treatment
​
-
Give Omeprazole PO 1mg/Kg once daily for 8 weeks OR
-
Esomeprazole PO 10 mg once daily for 8 weeks
