Amoxicillin ni antibayotiki kundi la aminopenicillin inayofanana sana na ampicillin, dawa hii inafahamika kuingia kwa mtoto wakati bado yupo tumboni mwa mama.


Tafiti nyingi zimeelezea matumizi ya amoxicillin na potassium clavulanate ( kwa jina jingine amoxiclavu au amoxicillin–clavulanic) kutibu maambukizi mbalimbali kwa mama mjamzito. Tafiti nyingi zimeonyesha kutokuwepo kwa madhara kwa kijusi na mtoto anayezaliwa. Hata hivyo tafiti moja imeripoti kuwa kuna mahusiano kati ya matumizi ya dawa hii na kutokea kwa ugonjwa wa kuoza kwa utumbo wa mtoto kwa vichanga wanaozaliwa.
